Hi Friends! I’ve been crafting like crazy all weekend. I’m excited to be designing and decorating a Christmas tree for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Festival of Trees this year.
Every Christmas season, beautifully decorated trees transform the lobby of the Four Season’s Hotel and the corridors of Pacific Center Mall into a Christmas wonderland to raise funds for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. The trees are sponsored and decorated by local businesses, organizations and individuals. La Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique (FFCB) is sponsoring the tree I am thrilled to be decorating.
With a theme of Sweet Treats, I’m creating almost all of the decorations by hand: cupcakes, macarons, peppermint sticks, gingerbread men and more. They look good enough to eat, but don’t be fooled, these sweet treats are faux, faux, faux! I’m pretty sure you’d break your teeth on the plaster-of-paris macarons!
Here’s a sneak peek of a few of the decorations.
Come down to see the Vancouver Festival of Trees at Pacific Centre Mall and the Four Season’s hotel starting November 21 to January 1. For a small donation to the BCCHF you can even vote for your favourite tree. *hint*hint*
Later in the week, I’ll be showing you how to make faux cupcake ornaments. So come back and make some treats for your own sweet tree!
